Recreation Areas Since 2009 Schuylkill Canal Association 400 Towpath Rd., Mont Clare , Phoenixville, PA 19453 610-917-0021 http://www.schuylkillcanal.com The Schuylkill Canal Association, founded in 1982, has a mission to preserve, maintain, and appropriately restore the Schuylkill Canal and its surrounding land and man made structures. The Schuylkill Canal Association cares for nearly 2.5 miles of waterway, five miles of towpath and bicycle trails, and 60 acres of land along the Schuylkill River. The area includes the Locktender’s House (built in 1836) and Lock 60, the only restored and operational lock system within the Schuylkill River Valley. The recreation area is visited by over 25,000 people annually. SCA encourages public use of the natural environment through events and education.
